Vodafone / John Henry Group

BACKGROUND

Due to previous successes with Site Closures at Finsbury Tower, Thameside and Brentside we were awarded the project to move and divert all cables from/to Bedford House to allow this exchange to be closed.

SCOPE OF WORK

KMCO Group were instructed by John Henrys/Vodafone to divert all cables from Bedford House which was due to close and re-route to Mercury House the new point of transmission. The works were to prove the existing network, locate any civils issues, for example Blockages and buried chambers, whilst also confirming cable routing and joint locations.

Once all of the above aspects had been addressed we moved onto process of installing all new cables required. As part of this element we had to install numerous cables of varying fibre counts ranging from 8-240 fibres per cable. One end of every cable installed was terminated within the new transmission DN Mercury House the other at the changeover positions designed by KMCO Group.

Our supervisors and crews worked with Vodafone’s commissioning engineers to reconfigure and renew all circuits until all services had been restored.

We had a 100% success rate across this project on every outage.

Post outages we recovered the existing cables and help to clear the now redundant Bedford House transmission site.
